Differences between ICSI and standard IVF

In the case when the standard protocol of artificial insemination can not be implemented or occurs with violations – an additional ICSI procedure is applied. It promotes the selection of a suitable sperm and inserts it directly into the egg, bypassing the accompanying actions. In the course, the medical worker applies the following actions:

  • Selection of mature oocytes and active spermatozoa.
  • Immobilization of the sperm by rubbing the tail.
  • Entering the spermatozoid into the egg directly.
  • Transfer of fertilized egg into the incubator.

When performing artificial insemination by applying the ICSI method, you can be 95% sure that the final result will be positive. During the procedure, the best sperm is taken, which is injected directly into the egg, leaving no chance for harmful factors to disrupt conception.

When it is not allowed to perform the procedure

IVF + ICSI is not performed in cases when the following problems were found during the examination:

  • Sperm has few spermatozoa.
  • Spermatozoa are inactive.
  • Spermatozoa with a large coefficient of pathological forms were found.
  • Used spermatozoa have already passed cryopreservation.
  • Oocytes have already passed cryopreservation.
  • There are no spermatozoa in the sperm.
  • Spermatozoa were obtained by extraction from urine during retrograde ejaculation.
  • A positive reaction to the MAR-test was detected.

In all other cases, IVF + ICSI can be carried out, having previously completed a full examination under the full supervision of a medical specialist in the industry.
